Rich, voluptuous and full-bodied. It is fresh and juicy with flavours of peaches, apples, pears and dried apricots. There are some slate notes on the nose with good minerality backed up with beautiful, lifted acidity giving it a great ageing potential. Elegant and classical Riesling scent, paired with aromas and tropical fruits. Green apples and citrus, pineapple and melon. Excellent balance of sweetness and acidity.

Louis Guntrum Oppenheim Herrenberg Auslese is a sweet white German Riesling from the Rheinehessen.
The Louis Guntrum Estate established 1948, is now in the hands of the 11th generation of the Guntrum family and includes some of the best vineyard sites in Nierstein and Oppenheim. The Herrenberg Vineyard (Herr = Lord, Berg = Mountain) is a well-protected vineyard nestling in a horseshoe-shaped hillside. The soil is loam and clay and has excellent water retention. Louis Guntrum takes various measures in the vineyard, reduced pruning, defoliate and green harvest, to ensure a good harvest. They also only use very limited and strictly monitored fertilizers and chemicals. Made only from carefully selected over-ripe grapes which undergo a gentle pressing followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks.
