Laphroaig Select is aged in many different casks: Oloroso Sherry cask, American white oak(some oak could have been virgin), seasoned with Pedro Ximenez in hogsheads, quarter casks and first-fill bourbon casks.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Classic, medicinal peat notes up front, supported by citrus, chocolatey sweet notes and soft barley.
Palate: The peat is there, but it’s taking it easy and letting the bright notes of lemon, green apples and mint stand out. Darker baking spice notes develop further on.
Finish: Medium length, peat remaining in sight until it’s over.
